Adjusting the KWA Variable Performance System

KWA’s Variable Performance System (VPS) is a unique method of fine tuning the FPS output on your AEG 2.5 series rifle. It also functions as a quick-change spring guide, and unlike traditional M4’s with such systems, removal of the gearbox is not necessary to swap springs out.

The KWA VPS typically has a 50~ FPS adjustment range, and comes equipped from the factory with a M120 equivalent spring. The primary advantage of this system is you can easily configure your FPS output to meet most CQB or field site limits, which makes the VPS system a versatile multi-role setup.

Battle of the Stocks: TWI PT-3 vs. Zenimei PT-1

Top: TWI PT-3. Bottom: Zenimei PT-1.

Recently I had opportunity to purchase the newly released TWI PT-3 stock, which is an Airsoft replica based on the real steel Zenitco PT-3. The PT series stocks are designed to fit any Kalashnikov style (and some variants such as the PP-19-01, Saiga-12, etc.) rifle with a folding stock hinge. There are adapters available that allow for attachment to fixed stock assemblies as well.

TWI is famous (and somewhat infamous) for manufacturing what are arguably considered some of the best Zenitco repro’s presently. The infamous part stems from the fact that they run nearly 80 – 85% of the cost of the real item; an obvious point of contention, and one that some would say means you should simply buy the real deal at that stage.

KWA VM4 / RM4 Aftermarket Trigger Fix

Airsoft Artisan Geissele Super Dynamic Combat style trigger

One of the gripes I often hear is that the current generation KWA rifles can’t take aftermarket triggers. This is only partially true, as there are many brands that fit without issue or simply require the opening in the receiver for the trigger to be enlarged. Bottom line, most of the issues boil down to manufacturer tolerances and chasing that ever-elusive “TM spec” that should really be considered a tongue-in-cheek statement these days.

KWA Air Nozzle Alternatives: Redux

Updated 7/22/21:

Since originally publishing the KWA Air Nozzle Alternatives post back in July of 2014, I’ve been experimenting significantly with using different air nozzles. As with a lot of things in Airsoft, times change, things change, and nothing stays static forever. Accordingly, it it time to revisit that article and provide some much needed updates.

I’ve now arrived at a “set” of what I would consider to be the optimal replacement air nozzle choices for the current and older generation KWA rifles. The results of which are based upon installing literal hundreds of each type now, and finding consistent uniform and satisfactory results across the board.

Airsoft Rental Fleets: Considerations and Guidelines for Field Owners

A rental “fleet” can be a lucrative and attractive option for field and store owners looking to fill a gap in their offerings and generate some extra income. It can also attract new customers and new players to the sport who may not otherwise be at first interested in investing fully into a new Airsoft gun.

What follows are some basic guidelines and considerations for field and store owners looking to establish a gun rental fleet. Much of this is based on firsthand experience with maintaining, advising and establishing rental fleets for various fields and store owners over the years.
